Bernadette Asias-Dinh, Pharm.D.; Jodie Gee, Pharm.D.; and Demi Martinez, Pharm.D., UH College of Pharmacy faculty members
Vecino Health Centers and the University of Houston College of Pharmacy work together to improve health outcomes for patients with diabetes and other chronic conditions. Clinical pharmacists from UH provide specialty care onsite at Vecino’s Denver Harbor Family Health Center.
Dr. Asias-Dinh, Dr. Gee, and Dr. Martinez work alongside Vecino’s medical providers to help patients manage their medications and lifestyle for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and other conditions.
As UH faculty, they also give pharmacy students valuable hands-on training and experience, strengthening Houston’s healthcare workforce and the health of the city.
Diabetes affects a significant percentage of Houstonians, and many more have prediabetes. For most people with the disease, ongoing attention to medication and diet is essential to staying healthy and avoiding costly, potentially life-threatening complications.
