We’re hiring! Bilingual Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)/Dental Clinic Coordinator

Vecino Health Centers is seeking a Bilingual (English and Spanish) Registered Dental Assistant. The role is responsible for coordinating clinical operations of the Dental Program’s two dental clinics at Airline Children’s Clinic and Denver Harbor Dental Clinic.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates dental staff schedules to assure adequate coverage of both Airline Children’s Clinic and Denver Harbor Dental Clinic.
  • Coordinates patient scheduling for both clinics.
  • Coordinates patient eligibility processes and makes operational recommendations as needed to improve clinical activities.
  • Oversees front desk activities and coordinates with billing to ensure accurate dental collections for both the Airline Children’s Clinic and Denver Harbor Dental Clinic.
  • Acts as senior treatment coordinator to ensure that patients understand treatment plans and payment options.
  • Performs independent procedures as delegated and directed by the dentist in accordance with state regulation and law and Dental Department directive and protocol.
  • Maintains Dental Department areas and equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s directions and Dental Department policy and protocol relative to infection control, exposure control and safety issues.
  • Maintains adequate dental supplies and compiles a list of individual item shortages for inventory control and ordering purposes.
  • Performs all functions in full compliance with the center’s and the Dental Department Exposure Control Plan including but not limited to the use of Personal Protective Equipment and Universal Precautions.
  • Participates in appropriate health promotion / disease prevention activities, both on-site and off-site as required.
  • Performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for personal compliance in full with all applicable federal, state, local and center rules, regulations, protocols and procedures including but not limited to the participation of a Dental Assistant in the provision of clinical dental care, as well as those relating to, but not limited to personnel issues, work place safety, public health and confidentiality.
  • Provides dental clinic productivity data to the CPI Committee and/or QI Committee and to the Chief Executive Officer for daily dashboard.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED certificate required.
  • Texas Registered Dental Assistant required.
  • Current CPR required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Effective oral communication skills in Spanish required.
  • 5 years experience working as a Dental Assistant preferred.
  • Experience as a dental treatment coordinator.
  • Requires a comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting techniques and procedures for all phases of general dentistry.
  • Knowledge of modern dental materials, their storage, handling, and applications is required.
  • Must be cognizant of the expectations and concerns of the center’s dental patients and be able to respond in an empathetic and professional manner.
  • Ability to operate computer, copier, fax.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and practice management system software applications.
  • The ability to work with persons from a wide diversity of social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds is necessary.
  • Ability to attend to multiple tasks at the same time and to prioritize assignments and responsibilities to ensure compliance with established deadlines and protocols.
  • Work under stressful conditions, as well as irregular hours, may be required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Effective oral communication skills in Spanish required.
